Rape-accused fast food cook Kieran Daley says sex was entirely consensual

A former fast food chef has denied ever raping or sexually abusing two young women. Kieran Daley, 21, is alleged to have attacked the two women during drinking and drug-taking sessions.

Daley is on trial at Truro Crown Court for rape and two sexual assault charges. Prosecuting the case, Jason Beal said yesterday: “This case involves sexual assaults on two women by the defendant. Both women knew the defendant.

“Both say on separate occasions they were with the defendant after a night out when they were subjected to unwanted sexual conduct. One involved sexual touching and the other the defendant raping her.

“The defendant denies the offences and agrees there was sex with one of the girls but that it was with consent. He admits hugging the other female but denies any sexual touching of her.”

Answering the questions of defence barrister Ramsay Quaife, Daley confirmed he was living at a bedsit in Penzance at the time of the alleged offences. Regarding the allegations from the first complainant, Daley told the jury he went for drinks with the complainant and a friend after work and that when the friend decided to go home, he went with the complainant to his room.

Daley said: “We continued drinking and took cocaine and shared about half a gram between us. We were sat on the bed when it became intimate. I was aware because I’d been taking cocaine and she was tipsy but aware. We started hugging on the bed, then kissed and this proceeded into sexual intercourse.”

Daley told the jury the complainant stayed with him until midday and that the atmosphere was “fine”. Daley denied pinning the woman down and said she gave him a nudge to say goodbye. He also stated that he socialised with the women on further occasions.

Regarding the claims of the second complainant, Daley again accepted drinking and taking drugs with her at his property. He said: “We were chatting away and I decided to smoke a joint then got into bed as I was feeling tired. She was on a one chair sofa next to my bed and she got into bed with me and we cuddled. We hugged for a good half an hour.”

Daley told Mr Quaife that nothing other than hugging happened and categorically denied touching the complainant’s breast and vagina or strangling her.

Daley denies the claims. The trial continues.
